The Perfect Tahoe Day Trip!

Just Imagine: You only have ONE day to spend in South Lake Tahoe! What will you do? With so many incredible options in such a small area; it can be totally overwhelming to try and decide where to go and what to do in only 24 hours!

Scenario: You’ve just driven into Tahoe. You have 24 hours to get the MOST out of your day-trip. To begin:

You’re hungry. It’s breakfast time! You have a full day of adventures ahead! Given that you drove in via US HWY 50 into Meyers; your first stop without question will be The Getaway Cafe. You order a Mimosa with the Coconut-Crusted French Toast. It’s so dreamy; it will feel like you never woke up.

You drive up the winding curvy roads into Emerald Bay until you reach the trailhead for the Cascade Falls Trail. This trail is easy to moderate; and at the end you will be rewarded with picture-perfect views of Lake Tahoe and a seasonal waterfall! The best time for waterfalls are in the Spring, so be sure to plan accordingly!

Tuckered out from your hike, you stop at the busy vista point, “Inspiration Point,” to gaze down at Fanette Island and the Teahouse. Once you’ve taken enough pictures of the most photographed location in the world, you now drive down through Emerald Bay and head to Kiva Beach. It’s a free beach, so you won’t waste any time paying for a parking pass. Make sure to bring your suit! You’ll be hot after your hike and will definitely want to jump into the crystal clear turquoise waters of Lake Tahoe.

Okay. You’re ready for the next adventure. Let’s head over to Camp Richardson and rent some bikes! There is a fantastic bike-path that runs the length of Emerald Bay Road. Hop on and get cruising; don’t forget your helmet! After your bike ride, it’s time for a late-afternoon lunch or appetizer. Stop into The Beacon and grab yourself half-off Calamari and a world-famous RumRunner. Enjoy the views from the outdoor patio and some live music if you’re up on the weekend!

So, you’re refueled and ready to go. You hop back into the car and drive into the heart of town with the intention of renting a Standup-Paddleboard from South Tahoe Standup Paddle at Lakeview Beach in the Al Tahoe neighborhood. Though intimidating, the knowledgeable and friendly staff gets you standing up and paddling over the crystal clear waters in absolutely no time. And guess what? The friendly staff member just told you about the immortal rock band, The Guess Who, is playing down at Stateline TONIGHT!

Get back in the car, head down to Harvey’s Casino Outdoor Arena and get your tickets. You spend the rest of the evening dancing and singing away to all your old favorite hits that you listened to in High School. The nostalgia and sunset is the perfect recipe to create a memorable evening on the South Shore!

Head on up to Harvey’s Casino after the rock concert and up to The Sage Room and grab yourself a juicy steak. You’ve imbibed in a few drinks, you’re tuckered out from the concert, so you get a room for the night. In the morning; you head back down 50 and back to reality. Well done!

And THAT, is exactly how you spend a perfect 24-hour day in South Lake Tahoe.
